Drikung Chungtsang (Wyl. 'bri gung chung tshang) Incarnation Line — the successive reincarnations of Kunkhyen Chökyi Drakpa who became the lineage holders of the Drikung Kagyü lineage, along with the Chetsang Rinpoches. The Chungtsang Rinpoches are regarded as manifestations of Manjushri.

  1. Kunkhyen Chökyi Drakpa, aka Drikung Rigdzin Chökyi Drakpa ( 'bri gung rig 'dzin chos kyi grags pa)[1] (1595-1659)—the youngest son[2] of the 21st throne holder of the Drikung Kagyü lineage, Chögyal Rinchen Phuntsok (1547-1602)
  2. Trinlé Döndrup Chögyal ( 'phrin las don grub chos rgyal), aka Drikung Bhande Dharmarāja (1704-1754)[3]
  3. Tendzin Chökyi Nyima (bstan 'dzin chos kyi nyi ma) (1755-1792)
  4. Tendzin Chökyi Gyaltsen (bstan 'dzin chos kyi rgyal mtshan) (1793-1826)
  5. Könchok Chönyi Norbu (chos nyid nor bu) (1827/8-1865)
  6. Könchok Tenzin Chökyi Lodrö (dkon mchog bstan 'dzin chos kyi blo gros) (1868-1906)
  7. Tenzin Chökyi Jungné (bstan 'dzin chos kyi 'byung gnas) (1909-1940)
  8. Tenzin Chökyi Nangwa (b.1942), the 36th throne holder of the Drikung Kagyu lineage

Notes

  1. Or Rigdzin Chödrak.
  2. That is the reason the name 'chungtsang' (younger) was given to his reincarnation.
  3. An earlier reincarnation, recognized by the Tenth Karmapa Chöying Dorje, died at a young age in a smallpox epidemic
