The eight impossible states where mind cuts us off from the Dharma (Wyl. ris chad blo yi mi khoms brgyad) are:
- having little renunciation
- lacking the jewel of devotion
- caught in the bonds of worldly ties and cravings
- having crude, degenerate behaviour
- never holding back from negative, harmful actions
- lacking the slightest real interest
- vows all broken
- samaya commitments torn to shreds
