'''Intermediary [[kalpa]]s''' (Skt. ''antara-kalpa''; Tib.  བར་བསྐལ་, [[Wyl.]] ''bar bskal'') are units that compose a greater kalpa; they are intermediary periods of time between the beginning and end of a greater kalpa. 

For example, it refers to one of the [[four intermediary kalpas]], which are the kalpas of formation, duration, destruction, and voidness. It can also refer to the [[twenty intermediary kalpas|twenty periods of time]] that compose each of these periods, and each is subdivided into periods of increase and decrease (of the [[merit]] and life-span of beings living during that period).
