The lotus family (Skt. padmakula; Tib. པད་མའི་རིགས་, Wyl. pad ma'i rigs) is one of the five buddha families and is linked to the transmutation of desire or attachment. It is the family to which Amitabha, Avalokiteshvara and Guru Padmasambhava belong. It is also the buddha family with which human beings are associated.
