Nine Supreme Lotsawas

The Nine Supreme Lotsawas (Tib. ལོ་ཙཱ་བ་རབ་དགུ་, Wyl. lo tsA ba rab dgu)— the finest translators during the time of Trisong Detsen. The Great Tibetan Dictionary lists them as follows:

The three elder ones:

• Vairotsana
• Denma Tsémang (Wyl. ldan ma rtse mang)
• Kashmiri Ananta

The three intermediate ones:

• Nyak Jñanakumara
• Khön Lü'i Wangpo
• Ma Rinchen Chok

The three younger ones:

• Kawa Paltsek
• Chokro Lüi Gyaltsen
• Shyang Yeshé Dé
