Tulku Lhatop was born in 1884 when his father was 50.

In 1893, when he was 9 years old, Tulku Lhatop was brought by his father Dudjom Lingpa to Taktsé Samdrup Monastery and recognized as a reincarnation of Shyichen Tulku Rinpoche<Ref>'''Zhichen Tulku Rinpoche''' aka  '''Shechen Aphpong Tulku''', '''Shyichen Apang Kuchen Gyi''' was the main lama of [[Shyichen Monastery]]. ::On the thirteenth day of the first autumn month, my young son [Tulku] Lhatop went to a large monastic community named Taktsé Samdrup Monastery, which upholds the tradition of pal Gyalwa [[Katok Monastery]]. He was recognized as a reincarnation of the incomparable Zhichen Tulku Rinpoche and enthroned on a tall golden throne. When that concluded, I returned home and bestowed, to their completion, many empowerments and scriptural transmissions upon those students of mine who were foretold of in the scriptures of Pema [Guru Rinpoche].

Tulku Lhatop was also recognised as an incarnation of [[Namkhé Nyingpo]] Trulwé Rolgar.

Tulku Lhatop studied mainly with his father [[Dudjom Lingpa]] and with his older brother [[Tulku Trimé Özer]].

==Activity==
Tulku Lhatop later propagated the treasure cycles of the [[Dudjom Tersar]] lineage. He was also a skilled physician and discovered many natural spring of medicinal water.
