Chilu (Wyl. 'chi bslu), "ransoming from impending death". Chilus are the main type of practices performed in the Sakya tradition when a practitioner seems to near the time of death because the dakinis are calling him or her back. With this practice we make offering to the dakinis as a ransom as a means to lengthen the life of the practitioner. They are similar to sundok practices.
