The eight vows of mahayana sojong are to refrain from:

  1. killing,
  2. stealing,
  3. sexual misconduct,
  4. lying,
  5. intoxication,
  6. taking a high or luxurious seat,
  7. singing and dancing or wearing ornaments, and
  8. eating after midday.
