The Four Sacred Caves of Sikkim have been blessed by Guru Rinpoche. They surround Tashiding the spiritual centre and heart of Sikkim in the four directions. They are:

  1. The Hidden Cave in the East (Wyl. shar phyogs sbas phug)
  2. The Secret Cave of the Dakini, or Womb of the Dakini, in the South (Wyl. lho mkha’ ‘gro bzang po or shang phug)
  3. The Cave of Great Bliss in the West (Wyl. nub bde chen phug)
  4. The Cave of the Heart of the Deity in the North (Wyl. byang lha ri snying po)
