Four wheels — four circumstances which students embarking upon the path of the Mahayana, should try to acquire. These four conditions were taught by Nagarjuna in his Letter to a Friend, and are expounded upon by Jikme Lingpa in Chapter 5 of his Treasury of Precious Qualities. They are:

  1. To live in favourable, conducive places
  2. To follow holy beings and imbibe their qualities
  3. To have good aspiration
  4. To desire to be protected by one’s merit
