Lama Tashi Dorje [b.1919] from the Himalayan settlement of Sama in the remote Nubri Valley of northern Nepal. Born the younger son of Sama's head Lama he served as the regent when his older brother passed away.

He is a descendant of King Trisong Deutsen and the maternal grandfather of Tsoknyi Rinpoche and Mingyur Rinpoche.

In 1956 he met Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö in Lhasa and Nepal and received teachings and empowerments. Today he lives in Swayambhunath, Nepal.
