Powo Samling aka Powo Dashying Tashi Gön Tashi Chöding monastery (Tib. སྤོ་བོ་མདའ་ཞིང་དགོན་བཀྲ་ཤིས་ཆོས་ལྡིང་གླིང་, Wyl. spo bo mda‘ zhing dgon bkra shis chos lding) is a Geluk monastery in Powo.

Origins

Powo Samling was established in the 15th century by Lopön Sönam Rinchen (WYl. slob dpon bsod nams rin chen) from Ngari in western Tibet.^[1]

Description

Powo Samling is a Gelukpa monastery located in upper Powo, above the northern shore of Lake Yi’ong Tso. Its main temple featured statues of Tsongkhapa and his two main disciples as the centerpiece.^[2]^[3]

Developments

At times, the monastery housed between 90 and 60 monks.

Main Practices

The main practices held were those of the Geluk tradition.

The main incarnation line is the Lingtrul (Wyl. gling sprul).
