Tulku Lhatop

Tulku Lhatop aka Lhachen Tobden, Lhachen Tobkyi Gyalpo (1884-1942) was a son of Dudjom Lingpa and of Akyabza Kalzang Drönma[1]. He became a main Dudjom Tersar lineage holders.

Birth, Family, Recognition

Tulku Lhatop was born in 1884 when his father was 50.

In 1883, Dakini Dewé Jungné, Source of Bliss, appeared to Dudjom Lingpa and gave him several prophecies including the following one[2]:

Next year Namkhé Nyingpo, Essence of Space will arrive as your son— He will act for the sake of the doctrine and beings.

Dudjom Lingpa recounts[3]:

In 1884, one morning in the middle summer month, one my sons was born. Twenty days after his birth he was able to call his mother and repeat the letters of the alphabet. He was given the name Lhachen Tobkyi Gyalpo, Magnificent Ruler Mighty King.

He was enthroned at Taktsé Samdrub Chökhor Ling in 1893, and recognised as the incarnation of Shechen Aphpong Tulku (Shyichen Apang Kuchen Gyi) and of Namkhé Nyingpo Trulwé Rolgar.

Training

Tulku Lhatop studied mainly with his father Dudjom Lingpa and with his older brother Tulku Trimé Özer.

Activity

Tulku Lhatop later propagated the treasure cycles of the Dudjom Tersar lineage. He was also a skilled physician and discovered many natural spring of medicinal water.
