It is a two-storied building, square in plan with open arcades (''dalan'') defining a courtyard. Vihara (Skt. vihāra; Tib. དགོན་པ་, Wyl. dgon pa) means 'temple' in Sanskrit and refers to the Buddhist temples in India and Nepal, where they are also called baha or biha.
