Düsum Khyenpa

Karmapa (Tib. ཀརྨ་པ་, Wyl. karma pa) — the seniormost lama of the Karma Kagyü school, the largest branch of the Kagyü. In Tibet he resided at Tsurpu Monastery. In exile, the home monastery of the Karmapa is Rumtek which is near Gangtok in Sikkim. The Sixteenth Karmapa passed away in 1981, and there are are currently two incarnations who hold the title of Seventeenth Karmapa:
