Chuba (Wyl. chu pa) means 'dress' in Tibetan. By extension it applies to Tibetan traditional dresses of both men and women. The men's chuba is a kind of jacket with long sleeves that descends to the knees. It is held at the waist by a belt, often in the same material as the chuba itself, forming a large pocket above it at the level of the stomach. The women's chuba is a dress that covers the shoulders and descends to the ankles.
