The eight vehicles of the gradual path (Tib. ལམ་སྟེགས་ཀྱི་ཐེག་པ་བརྒྱད་, Wyl. lam stegs kyi theg pa brgyad), also known as the eight vehicles of cause and result (Tib. རྒྱུ་འབྲས་ཀྱི་ཐེག་པ་བརྒྱད་, Wyl. rgyu 'bras kyi theg pa brgyad), are the first eight of the nine yanas. Their approach is to rely on different stages, which are causes that will eventually bring the result of enlightenment. They stand in distinction to the final vehicle of Dzogpachenpo, in which the final result is taught directly.
