Four wheels — four circumstances which students embarking upon the path of the Mahayana, should try to acquire. These four conditions were taught by Nagarjuna in his Letter to a Friend, and are expounded upon by Jikme Lingpa in Chapter 5 of his Treasury of Precious Qualities. They are:
- To live in favourable, conducive places
- To follow holy beings and imbibe their qualities
- To have good aspiration
- To desire to be protected by one’s merit
