Marpa Kagyü (Wyl. smar pa bka' brgyud) — the name given (in the context of the eight practice lineages) to the lineage of teachings and practices brought to Tibet and translated by Marpa Lotsawa (1012-1097), which later branched into the four major and eight minor Kagyü lineages.
