Whoever takes delight in drowsiness and sleep
Will find their intelligence thereby made weak.
And with the diminishing of mind's capacity,
Purest wisdom will remain forever out of reach.[1]

Buddha Shakyamuni, The Sūtra that Inspires Noble Intentions (Adhyasayasamcodana Sutra)

Notes

  1. As quoted by Dodrupchen Jikme Tenpe Nyima in 'On Sleep'.
