Sur or 'burnt offering' (Tib. གསུར་, Wyl. gsur) — a type of offering usually prepared from a mixture of the three whites and three sweets which is then burnt on coals or in a fire. The smoke and odour generated by the offering has the power to especially satisfy wandering spirits and bardo beings who feed on smells.
