Khenpo Migmar Tsering
Khenpo Migmar Tsering (Tib. མིག་དམར་ཚེ་རིང་, Wyl. mig dmar tshe ring) (1955-1999) was the third khenpo to take charge of Sakya College, following Khenpo Appey and Khenpo Jamyang Tenzin. During this time, he served as the tutor to His Holiness Sakya Trizin's two sons, Ratna Vajra Rinpoche and Gyana Vajra Rinpoche.
Born in Western Tibet, Khenpo Migmar escaped to India in 1959 at the age of four and completed his elementary studies in South India. He then studied at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Sarnath and in 1972 became one of the first students at Sakya College when it was founded. For the next ten years, he studied there under Khenpo Appey Rinpoche. He received most of the major tantric empowerments from His Holiness Sakya Trizin,Chogye Trichen Rinpoche and Luding Khenchen Rinpoche. Tragically, he passed away in 1999 following a short illness.
