The three qualifications for composing a shastra (Tib. བསྟན་བཅོས་རྩོམ་པའི་རྒྱུ་གསུམ། ) are

  1. a perfect realization of ultimate reality,
  2. a vision of the yidam deity, and
  3. a complete knowledge of the five sciences. [1]
