Lama Thekchok Dorje (Wyl. bla ma theg mchog rdo rje) (1876-1961), also known as Yana Vajra (Skt. Paramayanavajra), was a practitioner both of the Namkha Khyung Dzong Tradition which he received from Degyal Rinpoche, and of the Dudjom Tersar which he received from Dudjom Rinpoche.

Birth, Family

Lama Thekchok Dorje was born in 1876 in a nomadic area, in the northern part of Central Tibet. In his family, there were four kids and he was the one who was sent to a monastery. [1]

Training

In Namkha Khyung Dzong, located on the slopes of Mount Kailash, Lama Thekchok Dorje practiced under the direction of Degyal Rinpoche (a student of Dudjom Lingpa) for over thirty years. In addition to completing 1,200,000 prostrations during his lifetime, he also completed practice trips twice during his lifetime to the one hundred and eight famous charnel grounds of India, Nepal and Tibet, practicing Chö from the Tröma Nakmo (Dudjom).[2]

After the passing of Degyal Rinpoche in 1933, Lama Thekchok Dorje and his wife Sherab Yeshe Zangmo both travelled on several occasions to Lama Ling, Kongpo, Tibet to receive teachings from Dudjom Rinpoche.

Activity

Lama Thekchok Dorje had an amazing speech’s speed ability.[3]

Family

His wife Sherab Yeshe Zangmo completed twelve years of retreat under the guidance of her own husband. Their son is Lama Yeshi Phuntsok.

Final Years

In 1961, Lama Thekchok Dorje passed away in Kalimpong, India, in the Sleeping lion's posture.[4]
